  • Dancing Nuns -

    images/doors_windows/dancing_nuns.jpg

So named because of the tile on the wall. My visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico was to see a friend of mine while filming a movie!

  • Door Knocker-

    images/doors_windows/door_knocker.jpg

The wrought iron doorknockers are a familiar feature in French towns and villages.

  • Wharton Esherick door

    images/doors_windows/esherick.jpg

My husband builds custom furniture, so we visited the home of Wharton Esherick in Pennsylvania. There was an ebony handle even on the door of his barn!

  • Gruyere -

    images/doors_windows/gruyere.jpg

The town of Gruyere is beautiful, and surrounding the city walls are the famous cows dingle-dangling along with their cow bells, thinking about producing the wonderful Swiss Cheese!

  • Iron Door -

    images/doors_windows/iron_door.jpg

Another door that I could not pass up. This one seems to come straight out of the Middle Ages - an Iron Door in Prague

  • Lamp & Vine Tourrette-

    images/doors_windows/lamp_vine_tourrette.jpg

This was also in Mougins - the same day I took photos of the geraniums. The rain had stopped, and we explored just about every nook and cranny in the village.

  • Laundry -

    images/doors_windows/laundry.jpg

Everywhere in Italy you see the laundry hanging out to dry! This is in Frascati, just above Rome

  • Palm Tree Shadow -

    images/doors_windows/palm_tree_shadow.jpg

We were staying just near the Spanish Steps in Rome, and one early morning I was walking through and thought this shadow would make a different photograph!

  • Philly Window -

    images/doors_windows/philly_window.jpg

Just opposite my friends house in Philadelpia was this window, which I photographed because of the evening light and because of the interesting shape of the window itself.

  • Pink Flower Window -

    images/doors_windows/pink_flower_window.jpg

On a visit to Alsace Lorraine, we went to the local market one morning. I love to look up and see window boxes; it gives me ideas for my windows at home.

  • Pink Window -

    images/doors_windows/pink_window.jpg

Here is the window that we passed by in Hermance, Switzerland and I also took a photo of the red rose door which you will see later on.

  • Portofino Colours -

    images/doors_windows/portofino_colours.jpg

The best way to see it, and the next bay of San Frutuoso, is by boat.

  • Portofino Shutters -

    images/doors_windows/portofino_shutters.jpg

I never get tired of windows and doors and these are no exception! The photograph is taken in Porto Fino, which can be over photographed. But these shutters, flowers, and walls could be anywhere in Italy.

  • Red Rose Door -

    images/doors_windows/red_rose_door.jpg

Near Lake Geneva is a little town called Hermance. My friends would always take me to a little bar by the lake for a delicious lunch. The walk back took us past this doorway.

  • Sienna -

    images/doors_windows/sienna.jpg

It was the weekend of a special birthday for me, and my friends took me to Sienna for a memorable lunch overlooking the famous square where the horse race takes place. On our way back to the car, I spotted this bike and shop - it looked so perfectly italian. I hear the bicycle is still sitting there.

  • Stone Window -

    images/doors_windows/stone_window.jpg

Welcome to Widecome-in-the-moor, in Dartmoor, England. These windows were different in that all the houses were built with local stone and had a totally different look to them.

  • Terrace In Tourrette-

    images/doors_windows/terrace_in_tourrette.jpg

There is a look to terraces, flower pots, doors etc., in the latin countries that is so attractive.

  • Tourrette Window-

I tried to get the reflection the window, a painting within a painting so to speak.

  • Tuscan Door-

    images/doors_windows/tuscan_door.jpg

Here we are in Montegonzi, Italy. The door is still here today, but doesn't quite look the same; the old light has been replaced with a modern blob, and the flowers are long gone. This is probably my most popular picture ever!

  • Zoagli Steps-

    images/doors_windows/zoagli_steps.jpg

This particular trip to Italy we stayed a little further down the Italian Riviera in a town called Zoagli. The hotel had the best food - dinner was the event of the day! Behind the hotel was a stairway down to the square, which led on to the beach.
